Tyler Ferreira: Featured Altered Space Gallery Artist
Altered Space Gallery is pleased to announce our newest showcase of work by a talented young artist, Tyler Ferreira, a fine artist based out of Central California, who uses pull lithograph & etching processes to explore visual realms of unconcious territory.
"I work through my unconscious and try to stray away from recognizable imagery. The figure still surfaces, but only in fragmented traces. The shapes that I use are derived from the graffiti culture I was introduced to through my life experiences living in the San Joaquin valley. The arrow is a traditional shape used in graffiti as a design element. The shapes that I use in my work purposely do not resemble any known man-made or organic forms. There is a strong narrative structure in my prints and drawings, but the story unfolds through fragmenting images rather than a linear syntax. My stories are narratives about narratives. Through my processes and subject matter I am more concerned with the unknown rather than the creation of a set story or plot. "

Altered Space Gallery has several of these archival hand-pulled lithographs, etchings, and original graphite drawings on display now, featuring work from Ferreira's ongoing series "Fragmented Narratives"
"All the lithographic prints cannot be printed again because I grained the images off the stone after the final color is printed. The lithographs and etching are printed by my hands on lithography and etching presses. I destroy my etching plates as well when the edition is finished. The drawings are original and there is only one unlike the prints.
Each lithograph or etching is hand pulled and sold as a limited edition."
